Dr. Tristen Brenaé Johnson (she/her/hers) is a TEDx Speaker and diversity, equity, and inclusion practitioner. She holds a Doctorate of Philosophy in Education from Illinois State University, a Master’s degree from Southern Illinois University Carbondale, and a Bachelor’s degree from Western Illinois University. Her research centers the experiences of Black Women diversity practitioners at Predominantly White Institutions (PWI). She is the lead editor and a chapter author of the academic book, The Experiences of Black Women Diversity Practitioners in Historically White Institutions published through IGI Global.
In 2020, she created and founded the Diversity and Inclusion Conference at the University of South Florida St. Petersburg. She is the owner and founder of The Tristen Johnson, LLC, a business dedicated to consulting, trainings, and workshops surrounding diversity and inclusion initiatives. Dr. Johnson has been invited to several Higher Educational institutions across the country to speak about DEI topics and issues involving communities from various social identities. She has also written, developed, and facilitated customized DEI educational opportunities for non-profit and large organizations across the country.
